Obituary of Jewel A. Truncale

Jewel Truncale (nee Malizia) of Point Pleasant, passed away, Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Jewel was born in Nutley on April 11, 1932, graduated from Eastside High School, and married Alfred Truncale in August, 1952. They lived in Newark and Kearny before making Point Pleasant their home in 1959. Over the years, Jewel and her husband owned and operated five restaurants along the Jersey Shore including Algers Restaurants in Point Pleasant and Brick, Jewels in Toms River, and The Waterfront Restaurant in Bayville. Before retiring she was employed by Point Pleasant Beach High School. Jewel was very active as a Rosarian and served as a Eucharistic Minister for Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church, Point Pleasant Beach. A caring, loving person, Jewel's friendly demeanor and warm smile captured the hearts of family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Alfred. Jewel is survived by her three beloved children, Ann Kelly (Robert) of Merchantville, Joseph Truncale (Karen) of Colts Neck, and LauraJean Burns (Robert) of Albany, NY. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Paul and Michael Kelly (Laura), Alex Truncale, and Julie and Jennifer Burns; and her brother, Anthony Malizia (Joan.) Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 9:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 15, a Liturgy will be celebrated at Saint Peter Church, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
