Obituary of Henry G. Gauch

Henry "Harry" G. Gauch, 90, of Point Pleasant, passed away, Monday, December 23, 2013. Born in Kearny, to the late Henry & Emilie Gauch, he has lived in Point Pleasant for 62 years. He was a veteran of World War II and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Gauch worked in research and development at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, for 30 years. He was a member of the V.F.W., Post 4715, Point Pleasant Beach; and the First Presbyterian Church of Manasquan. He also was a member and Past Worshipful Master of Durand Lodge, No. 179, F.& A.M., Point Pleasant Beach, and was Past Worthy Patron of Faith Chapter, O.E.S. Harry was an avid hunter and loved spending time at his cabin in Maine with his family and friends. He also enjoyed walking the beach in Florida with the love of his life. Surviving are his beloved wife, of 66 years, Dorothy M. Gauch (nee Hoaglund); one son, Harry R. Gauch of Jersey City; and two daughters, Renee O'Brien and her husband David of Bay Head and Yvonne Barnickel and her husband James of Brielle. Also surviving are his sister, Dorothea Nylander; 8 grandchildren, Daniel, Maura, Aimee, Sarah, Paula, Megan, Jaime, and James Jr., and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2 - 5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 29 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 30 a service will be held, at the funeral home, and interment will follow at White Lawn Cemetery, Point Pleasant.
