Obituary of Elbert W. Morris

Elbert W. Morris, 90, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at his home. Born in Point Pleasant, to the late Robert W. and Jessie (nee Ransom) Morris, he was a lifelong area resident and 1942 graduate of Point Pleasant Beach High School. A land surveyor for over seventy years, Mr. Morris operated his family's business, in Point Pleasant, which was founded in 1913 by his father, Robert W. Morris. He served as a trustee for White Lawn Cemetery, Point Pleasant. Surviving are his beloved wife, of sixty-nine years, Catherine Morris (nee LeCompte); two sons, Robert H. Morris and his wife Susan of Point Pleasant and Alan S. Morris and his wife Eleanore of Brick; and his daughter, Susan Leta and her husband Daniel of Brick. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Robert, Mark, Laura, Kevin, Michael, and Jessica; and five great-grandchildren, Alicia, Bridget, Emily, Taylor, and Makayla. Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25 a service will be held at the funeral home. Interment at White Lawn Cemetery will be private.
