Obituary of Joseph F. Smith
Joseph F. Smith, 87, of Point Pleasant, passed away, Monday, February 24, 2014.
Born in Newark, to the late Joseph & Patricia Smith, he was raised in Panama where he worked on the Panama Canal. He lived in Point Pleasant for over fifty years and retired to Florida.
Mr. Smith was a veteran of World War II and served in the United States Navy.
He was retired from US Naval Air Station, Lakehurst, where he worked as a clerk.
An avid bowler, he was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the V.F.W.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Smith (nee Keil) and his grandson, Jason Cipolla.
Surviving are four daughters, Debbie Smith of Point Pleasant, Kathy Bonham and her husband David of Point Pleasant, Cindy Anastasio of FL, and Susan Oliver-Knee and her husband Stuart of Toms River. Also surviving are three brothers, Gilbert, Stan, and Richard Smith; six grandchildren, Tucker, David, Brian, Lauren, Melissa, and Kristine; and three great-grandchildren, Skyla, Tatyana, and Zoey.
Visitation will be held from 6 - 9 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 8:30 p.m. a service will be held.
