Obituary of Anna Altieri

Anna E. Altieri passed away Tuesday March 11, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at the Sunnyside Home in Wall Township. She was 93. Anna was the beloved wife of the late Anthony P Altieri with whom she spent 25 years of marriage. Born in New York City and raised in Brooklyn, she raised her family in Uniondale Long Island before retiring from Hofstra University to live in Florida with her son. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Anna was also involved in many community activities including St. Martha's Rosary Society, Girl Scouts, and other civic activities. Her greatest love was gathering for Sunday dinners with her family, spending time in her garden, and caring for her birds. Anna is survived by her sister, Marie Conte, her daughters, Mary Hasselwander, Margaret and Paula Altieri, Anna Maria Rimassa, Elizabeth Meyer, her sons Christopher and Raymond Altieri, as well as her eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her loving son Anthony Jr. and her beloved grandson Thomas Hasselwander. A burial rite and interment will take place Friday, March 21 at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, New York. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to: Alzheimer's Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter or Grace Healthcare Services in Anna's memory.
