Obituary of Christine N. Vogler

Christine N. Vogler, 59, of Point Pleasant, succumbed to her courageous 4 year battle with lung cancer on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. She died peacefully in her sleep at home with her family. Born in Hackensack and raised in Wood-Ridge, she chose to raise her family in Point Pleasant. She was the successful proprietor of her own florist shop in Midland Park. After moving to Point Pleasant, she became involved in a variety of community activities important to her family: Secretary of the Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; a singer and volunteer at Saint Martha Church; and started Girl Scout Troop 542 and assumed leadership of Troop 1201. After her children were in school, she worked as a floral designer; a poll worker for the Ocean County Board of Elections; became an H&R Block Tax professional; and was a member and past secretary of UNICO. She held various offices in the Point Pleasant Borough Schools PTO's including five years as president at Nellie Bennett, two years at Memorial Middle, and two years at the High School. For her years of contributions to the schools, in 2014 she was inducted into the Point Pleasant Foundation for Excellence in Education's Hall of Fame. Christine was predeceased by her parents, H. Robert & Florence Nordahl, sister, Florence, and brother, Eric. Surviving are her husband of twenty-five years, John; and two daughters, Kristiann and Kerianne. Also surviving are her brothers and sister Robert, Guy, and Patricia and their families; her brothers-in-law, George, Robert, and Thomas and their families; her mother-in-law, Marion; and her beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m., Thursday, July 31at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10 a.m., Friday, August 1 a service will be held at the funeral home, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
