Obituary of Norma B. Appel

Norma Bocker Appel, 90, of Point Pleasant, passed away, Thursday, August 7, 2014. Born in Jamaica, Queens to the late Henry and Celia (Beck) Bocker, she was raised in New York City. She summered in Lavallette since 1963 and has lived there permanently before moving to Point Pleasant. Mrs. Appel worked as a secretary and retired from the City of New York, Board of Education. She was a member of the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church. She was by predeceased by her husband, William; granddaughter, Leah; and brother, Robert. Surviving are her son, Stephen Appel of Manasquan; daughters, Lynn Donley and her husband Loren and Kim Holick and her fiance David Hanrahan, all of Point Pleasant; eight grandchildren, Shalon Weinel and her husband Ray, Jacque Young, David Appel, Susan Laughlin and her husband Scott, Drew Appel, and Amanda, Melanie, and Carlee Holick; and two great-grandsons, Henri and Max Laughlin. Visitation will be from 2 - 6 p.m., Sunday, August 10 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10 a.m. Monday, August 11 a service will be held at the funeral home and followed by entombment at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
