Obituary of Barbara Ann Vescovi

Barbara Ann Vescovi, 82, of Point Pleasant Beach, daughter of Michael Deto and Teresa Esola Deto, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2014. Barbara was born in Somerville and resided in Middlesex before moving to Point Pleasant Beach in 1968. She worked at the G. Harold Antrim School, Point Pleasant Beach, as a cafeteria aide and was later employed by Brick Hospital until retirement. Barbara was instrumental in starting the first Point Pleasant Beach Girls Softball Team in the 1980's. She was actively involved at Saint Peter R.C. Church as a parishioner and also helped organize Father Alphonse's Summer Concerts at Jenkinson's North Beach. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard Deto. She is survived by her sister, Joan Ruberto; four children, James Vescovi and his wife Anne, Donna Dennis and her husband Rich, Michael Vescovi and his wife Carolyn, and Diane Niethe and her husband Andrew; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 7:30 p.m. a prayer service will be held.
