Obituary of George E. Hildner

GEORGE E. HILDNER, 83, of BRICK, passed away, Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Newark, to the late Peter Hildner and Anna Kahl, he was a long time Union resident. He summered in Brick since 1959 before moving there permanently. A United States Army, World War II veteran, Mr. Hildner was in the Battle of Bulge and was decorated with two Bronze Stars for service to his country. He worked as an electronics repair technician and retired as owner of GH Electronics, Union. Mr. Hildner was a member of the VFW, Post 8867, Brick, and The Old Guard, Brick/Point Pleasant Chapter. For forty years he was active with the Boy Scouts of America and was awarded The Silver Beaver for his leadership. He was a communicant of the Church of Saint Martha, where he was president of the parish Holy Name Society and member of the Knights of Columbus, Saint Martha Council. Predeceased by his wife, Ann Schulz Hildner, he is survived by his son, George B. Hildner and his wife Nancy of Florham Park, two daughters, Diane Olock and her husband John of Palmer, PA, and Linda Hildner of Brick; his sister, Ann Marie Hildner of Springfield; two brothers, Peter Hildner and his wife Jean of Manchester and Jake Kahl and his wife Marie of Brick; and four grandchildren, Christine Olock, Jaclyn Halpern, Dana Hildner, and Allison Olock. Friends may visit from 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 9 p.m., Monday at the Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 11 a.m., Tuesday, Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Martha, Point Pleasant, followed by interment at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.
