Obituary of William George Augustine

William "Bill" G. Augustine, 81, of Whiting, passed away, Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Community Medical Center. Born in Teaneck to the late Emil and Catherine (Kendrick) Augustine, he lived in Somerville for many years and moved to Whiting seventeen years ago. Bill worked as a sales representative for Prudential, Somerville. He also was a special police officer for the Borough of Somerville, a job he loved, for seventeen years. He was a United States Marine Corps, World War II veteran and was a member of the American Legion, Somerville Post No. 12; the B.P.O. Elks, Somerville Lodge; and was also a member of the Cedar Glen Lakes Men's Club, where served seven years as president. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Joseph Helfin and by his sister Helen Augustine. Surviving are his wife of fifty-three years, Carmen (Gonzalez) Augustine; his daughter, Marina of Middlesex; several nieces, nephews, and his cousins, Richard Shindell and his wife Donna, Barbara Chaplin and her husband Robert, and Lawrence Augustine. At 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 4, a service, followed by inurnment, will be held at the chapel of the B/G Wm. C. Doyle Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Arneytown. As an expression of sympathy, contributions made in his memory to Saint Jude Children's Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 are suggested. Arrangements are by the Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant.
