Obituary of Mary E. Swensen

Mary Kerekes Swensen, 65, of Brick, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in New Brunswick, to the late Stephen and Mary (Pali) Kerekes, she had lived in South River before moving to Brick many years ago. Mrs. Swensen and her late husband were co-owners of Svenco Excavating, Brick, where she also worked as the bookkeeper. For thirty-four years, she was active with the Boy Scouts of America and for twenty years served as a commissioner for the Ocean County Council. She was a communicant of Saint Dominic Church, Brick. Her loving husband of forty-five years, Harvey Murray Swensen, predeceased her in October of last year. Surviving are two sons, Timothy H. and wife Carol of Brick and Stephen L. and his wife Janna of Manahawkin. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Lauren, Kelly, Austin, Shelby and Stephen, Jr.; two brothers, Stephen Kerekes and his wife Roberta of New Hampshire, and Joseph Kerekes and his wife Diann of South River; a sister Elizabeth Doran and her husband William of Williamsburg, VA; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may visit from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m., Monday, July 12 at the Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 13, Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Saint Dominic Church, followed by interment at the BGWCD Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
