Obituary of Alberta B. Kirk

Abby Burns Kirk, of Brick, passed away suddenly on Saturday July 17, 2010. Born in Carteret NJ she was for many years an administrative assistant to the Publisher of Mademoiselle Magazine, Conde Nast Publications, New York City, before moving to the Jersey Shore. She also worked as administrative assistant to the Dean of Trident Technical College in North Charleston South Carolina. While in Charleston she went through the Cursillo spiritual renewal in 1985. Upon her return to the Jersey Shore in 1986 she devoted the last many years of her life caring for the sick, the handicapped, and intellectually challenged. She had a beautiful God given voice and was an accomplished artist, who painted regularly. She enjoyed singing in churches throughout the Jersey Shore area. She is predeceased by her parents Albert (1977) and Helen (2004) and nephew David Jesse D'Orsi (2001). She is survived by her sister, Kathleen D'Orsi and brother-in-law, Hank D'Orsi, Carteret; her brother, James Burns of Brick; former sister-in-law Marcy Burns of Manahawkin; nieces, Sarah and Grace Burns of Manahawkin; Godson and nephew, Joseph D'Orsi; and devoted husband, John Kirk. Friends may pay their respects at the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, between the hours of 4 and 7 pm on Wednesday July 21, 2010.
