Obituary of Gilbert E. Jones

Gilbert E. Jones, 71, of Brick, passed away, Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Brunswick. Mr. Jones was born and raised in Point Pleasant. After graduation from Point Pleasant Beach High School in 1957, Gil served in the US Army. He also worked for Jersey Central Power and Light for over thirty-five years. After retirement, Gil worked in the hardware department of Sears in the Ocean County Mall, where he was employed until the time of his death. In his younger years, Gil enjoyed racing stock cars at Wall Stadium. He enjoyed spending time with his family, babysitting for his grandchildren, gardening, hunting, and canoeing. He was also involved with the Old Guard in Brick. Gil was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Una Jones of Point Pleasant. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jones (Rogers), brothers, Clarence (Stanley), Phillip, and Douglas Jones, son Gilbert and his wife Ida, daughter Shirley Boyd and her husband Stephen; and his four grandchildren Emily Abigail, Madison, and Ryan, who he loved very much. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Friends may visit from 2 - 6 p.m., Sunday, September 19 at the Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, 732.899.3300, where at 5 p.m., a service will held. At 11 a.m. Monday, September 20, interment will take place at Spruce Run Cemetery, Glen Gardner.
