Obituary of Louis E. Sherman

Louis E. Sherman, 77, of Toms River, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at home. Born in Belmar, to the late Henry & Reeva (Dunn) Sherman, he had lived in Point Pleasant and has resided in Toms River for forty years. For thirty eight years, he worked for Jersey Central Power & Light, retiring from the Forked River store. He was a member and former secretary of I.B.E.W., Union, Local 400, Wall. Mr. Sherman proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the V.F.W., Brick Post No. 8867. He was also a member of Durand Lodge, No. 179, F.& A.M., Point Pleasant, and life member of the Ocean County Bowling Association. His favorite pastimes were BINGO and stamp, coin, and crystal collecting. He was predeceased his beloved wife, of fifty four years, Beverly Schoeneick Sherman in February and by two grandsons, Lyle, Jr. and Gary, Jr. Surviving are his daughter, Gayle Worsley and her husband Lyle of Brick, three sons, Gary Sherman and his wife Denise of Jackson, Louis "Bob" Sherman and his girlfriend Karen Ledford of Brick, and Steven Sherman and his fiance Susan Bonney of Toms River; two brothers, Henry Sherman and his wife Diane and Donald Sherman; his brother and sister in law, Irwin and Karen Schoeneick, Jr., his grandchildren, Danielle, Jessica, Robert, Rebecca, Brett, Angela, Aimee, Kathy, and Megan; and two great-grandchildren, Molly & Joshua. He is also survived by his canine companion, Buster. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 8 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, a service will be held at the funeral home, followed by interment at Laurelton Cemetery, Brick.
