Obituary of Virginia S. Loveland

Virginia Skimmons Loveland, 90, of Leisure Village, Lakewood, passed away, Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Kimball Medical Center. Born in Neptune to the late Edward and Amelia Skimmons, she was raised there and was a long time Point Pleasant resident before retiring to the eastern shore of Virginia. She moved back to N.J. and lived in Lakewood for the last twenty years. Mrs. Loveland worked as a switchboard operator at Point Pleasant Hospital for twenty years, and she also worked at NASA while in Virginia. A United States Marine Corps, WW II veteran, her favorite pastimes were gardening, billiards, and bowling. In recent years she enjoyed Bocce Ball and trips to Atlantic City. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of forty years, George Clark Loveland, and by her daughter, Janet Elaine VanArsdale. Surviving are two daughters, Jacqueline Jane Loveland of Hampstead, NC and Beverly Ann Puorro and her husband James of Point Pleasant; her son-in-law, Leonard William VanArsdale; five grandchildren, Vicki VanArsdale, David VanArsdale, Emmett Todd Nunes, Kimberly Burke, and Jeffrey Puorro; six great-grandchildren; and many dear friends.
