Obituary of John James Pizzi
John Pizzi, 85, Point Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
Born in Orange, to the late Daniel and Elizabeth Magrino Pizzi, he had lived in Orange and Long Branch before moving to Point Pleasant 53 years ago.
Mr. Pizzi was a dairy manager for the Grand Union, Point Pleasant retiring in 1988. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, a former Boy Scout Troop leader and former manager of the Point Pleasant Babe Ruth team, the Indians.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy A. Pizzi in 2000 and by his son, John J. Pizzi, Jr. in 1974.
Surviving are his sons, Michael and his wife Donna of Point Pleasant and Daniel and his wife Eleanor of Tallahassee, FL; four grandchildren, Michael Jr., Ryan John, Michelle Heinz and her husband Michael, and Daniel, Jr. and his great granddaughter, Megan.
Visitation will be from 3 - 7 p.m., Friday April 15, at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, April 16, a funeral service will be held. Interment will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery, Sea Girt.
