Obituary of Carl Feltz

Carl Feltz, Jr., AIA, of Point Pleasant, passed away, Thursday, April 21, 2011 at home. Born in Jersey City, to the late Carl Feltz, Sr. and Josephine Marcella Feltz, he was educated in Jersey City and a graduate of Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, with a degree in Architecture. Carl was a summer resident of Point Pleasant since 1948 and moved there permanently in 1965. He worked in New York City, after graduating Pratt, and designed airports, resorts, churches, hospitals, and High-Rise buildings. Since opening the office at 1605 Bay Avenue in Point Pleasant, Carl has been designing condominiums, restaurants, professional offices and homes, with an occasional request from former New York associates for help. Carl has served as a member and chairman of the Point Pleasant Borough Planning Board since 1975. He is a member and past president of the Point Pleasant Rotary Club; was chairman of the Point Pleasant Tourism Council; member of the American Institute of Architects; and has been serving on the Board of Directors of the OceanFirst Bank since 1990. Surviving are his wife, Alice Sandford Feltz; sons, Carl R. Feltz of Boston, MA, David C. Feltz of Chatham, NH, Samuel A. Mehorter of Belfast, ME and Hugh L. Mehorter of Point Pleasant; and four grandchildren, James J. Mehorter, Justin J. Ruhl, Matthew J. Mehorter and Rowan C. Feltz. Visitation will be on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 4 - 7 pm at the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road.
