Obituary of Richard A. Ohr

Richard A. Ohr, 88, of Bay Head, formerly of Madison, passed away suddenly, on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born and raised in South Orange, he lived in Madison for forty-eight years and has resided in Bay Head since 2009. He graduated from Columbia High School and then served in the Ordnance Corps of the Seventh United States Army in France and Germany as a Sergeant. After the war he attended N.J.I.T., where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering. Mr. Ohr worked for The Worthington Corporation for thirty-six years and retired in 1985 as a senior product engineer. Many years ago he served as assistant scoutmaster of B.S.A., Troop 11 in Orange. He was also a life member and fellow of the Company of Military Historians and member of the United Methodist Church of Madison. He leaves behind his beloved wife, of almost fifty years, Mary Sutherland Ohr; two sons, Robert and his wife Kim and their daughters, Lauren, Megan, and Kendall of Greenville, PA and Richard and his wife Karina and their sons Richard and Daniel of Barnegat. Visitation will be from 12 Noon - 3 p.m., Sunday, May 1 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 2:30 p.m. a service will be held. Interment, with military honors, Monday, May 2, 10:30 a.m. at the committal shelter of the BGWCD Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
