Obituary of Ruth L. Dorzan

Ruth L. Gitt Dorzan, 87, of Toms River, passed away, Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Born in Newark, to the late George & Sophie Gitt, she was raised in Maplewood and was formerly of Union and Brick. She has resided in Toms River for the past year and a half. For thirty-five years, Mrs. Dorzan worked as a crossing guard first for the Township of Union and later for the Township of Lakewood, retiring seven years ago. She loved to knit, crochet, and play Bingo. Her beloved husband, Peter, predeceased her in 1988. Surviving are three daughters, Cheryl Barillari and her husband Richard of Toms River, Chris Newitts and her husband Jack of Point Pleasant, and Lori Londino of Clarksburg; one son, Ronald Dorzan and his wife Linda of Port Richie, FL; five grandchildren, Nicole, April, C.J., Riley, and Nicholas; and her great-granddaughter, Jazmyn. At 10:30 a.m., Saturday June 4, a Memorial Liturgy will be celebrated at Saint Mary of the Lake R.C. Church, 43 Madison Avenue (Corner of Routes 9 & 88), Lakewood. As in expression of sympathy, donations made, in her memory, to Grace Hospice would be appreciated. A private cremation was arranged by the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant.
