Obituary of David L. Carter

David L. Carter, 86, of Point Pleasant, passed away, Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Haven Hospice, JFK Medical Center, Edison. Born in Newark, to the late Theodore & Anna (Weber) Carter, he was a life long Point Pleasant resident. Mr. Carter was a United States Navy, World War II veteran, honorably discharged, after serving aboard the USS Bunker Hill, as a Torpedoman. He retired from the Earle Naval Weapons Station, Colts Neck, as Chief Firefighter. Dave was member of Point Pleasant Fire Company, No. 1; the NJ State Exempt Firemen's Association; the Sons of the American Revolution; and was a charter member of the V.F.W., Post No., 4715, Point Pleasant Beach. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, of sixty years, Joan Dawley Carter; and two sons, Christopher & Jonathan Carter. Surviving are his daughter, Mary F. Sears and her husband Dennis of Point Pleasant; his son, Peter Carter and his wife Angela of Japan; and four grandchildren, Christopher & Nicholas Sears, and Theodore & Michael Carter. At 9:30 a.m., Friday, September 16, Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Martha, 3800 Herbertsville Road, Point Pleasant, followed by interment at Saint Catharine Cemetery, Sea Girt. There will no visitation and those attending may gather directly at the church.
