Obituary of Joseph J. Skoczen

Joseph J. Skoczen, 68, of Brick, formerly of Point Pleasant, passed away, Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Ocean Medical Center. Born in Cleveland, Ohio he was a long-time Point Pleasant resident and has lived in Brick for the past three years. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. Mr. Skoczen was a former member and past trustee of the Bay Head Shores Property Owners Association and member of Durand Lodge, No. 179, F. & A.M. Joseph's love of the water brought Jean and himself to Bay Head Shores in 1973. Joe liked boating and family Lobster Bakes. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Skoczen. Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Lockman Skoczen; three daughters, Cheryl Puciul and her husband Frank of Point Pleasant, Debbie Winder of Brick, and Bonnie Durkin and her husband Butch of Point Pleasant; and by his mother, Leona Scherler of Lake Worth, FL. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Michael & Rachele Puciul, Tyler, Kyle & Morgan Winder, Joseph Salmons and Wayne and & Erin Durkin two great-grandchildren, Katelyn & Wayne. Two brothers, Robert and his wife Simone & Kurt and his wife Debbie; and many family friends. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m., Monday, October 17 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 8 p.m. a service will be held. Masonic Service will be at 7:30 p.m. Cremation will be private. As an expression of sympathy, donations made in his memory to Susan G.
