Obituary of Dolores M. Barnes

Dolores M. Wonnenberg Barnes, 88, of Manahawkin, Stafford Twp., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 28, 2011. Born in Philadelphia, to the late Frederick & Lottie Wonnenberg, she was raised there, and has lived in Manahawkin since 1954. Mrs. Barnes served on the Stafford Township Committee and became the township's first female mayor in 1979. She had been a member of the Stafford Chapter of Deborah; the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W.; and the Manahawkin United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, former Stafford Twp. Committee member, Ralph A. Barnes in 1972. Surviving are her daughter, Radelle Wirth and her husband Emil of Montrose, PA; two sons, Ralph A. Barnes of Manahawkin and Frederick W. Barnes and his wife Suzanne of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Christine & Jennifer Barnes, Elizabeth Dous and her husband Robert, and Emil Wirth, III and his wife Darci; seven great-grandchildren, Jesse & Sarah Conger, Emil IV, Eli, Evan, Elexa, and Edward Wirth; and many dear friends. At 11 a.m., Saturday, January 28, a memorial service will be held at the Manahawkin United Methodist Church, 116 Stafford Avenue. Entombment at Sunset Memorial Park, Feasterville, PA will be held privately. As an expression of sympathy, donations made in her memory to either the Deborah Hospital Foundation or the Manahawkin United Methodist Church, would be appreciated.
