Obituary of Janet F. Hatch

Janet F. Bathgate Hatch, 89, of Tinton Falls, passed away, Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Jersey Shore Medical Center. Born in Orange, to the late Walter Earle Bathgate and Estelle Lorraine Kent Bathgate, she had resided in Passaic, Rutherford, and Glen Rock before moving to Brick in 1966 and later to Tinton Falls. Mrs. Hatch worked as a news reporter for Ridgewood Newspapers, for ten years, and also for The Coast Star, Manasquan, for eighteen years, retiring as assistant editor. She served as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, the founding group, of the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and was a charter and life member of the active squad of the Corps. She was a past-president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 145, Glen Rock, and was an avid quilter and Bridge player. Her beloved husband, of fifty-nine years, Harvey Clarence Hatch, predeceased her in 2001. Surviving are two sons, W. Kevin Hatch and his wife Patricia and Harvey K. Hatch, all of Brick; one daughter, Karen Hatch Murdoch and her husband Peter of Myrtle Beach, SC; eight grandchildren, Alan, Tracy, Brian, Maureen, Shannon, Jere, Sandy, and Cindy; and her great-grandson, Harvey Nathan. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m., Friday, April 6 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10 a.m., Saturday, April 7 a service will be held at the funeral home, followed by interment at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.
