Obituary of William Francis Glenfield

Another one of the Greatest Generation passes. William Francis Glenfield, 87, of Point Pleasant, died Thursday May 3, 2012 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Jersey City, to the late William & Marcella Glenfield, he was raised there and has lived in Point Pleasant for fifty seven years. Mr. Glenfield was a United States Navy, World War II veteran, he served with the United States Navy Armed Guard and aboard the SS Walt Whitman, Wm. G. Lee, A. Mitchell Palmer, and the USS Missouri. He worked for Post Lumber, later Triangle Pacific, in Point Pleasant and then for Ace Hardware, Point Pleasant Beach. Favorite hobbies were woodworking, fishing, and golf and memberships include AMVETS, the American Legion, and V.F.W., Post 8867, Brick. He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Glenfield; his daughter, Victoria Headley; and two sisters, Joanie Glenfield and Marcella Dixon. Surviving are his wife, of thirty two years, Barbara Chetoni Glenfield; one son, William F. Glenfield of Brick; four grandchildren, Raquel, Jason, Keith, and William; several great-grandchildren; and his beloved, Mazie. Visitation will be from 2 - 5 p.m., Sunday, May 6 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 9:30 a.m., Monday, May 7 a service will be held at the funeral home, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
