Obituary of Catherine G. Johnson

Catherine Johnson of Point Pleasant on Friday, May 11, 2012. Cathy's guardian angels came and took her to be with Jesus after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Katherine Thoennes, her brother William Jr. and beloved Aunt Mary and Louis Thieryung. She is survived by her husband of 49 years Joseph, her son Joseph and his wife Roseanne of Point Pleasant, her daughter Kathryn and her husband Gregory Cummings of Point Pleasant, three grandchildren, Jessica and Joseph Johnson and Christopher Cummings. She is also survived by her sister, Trudy Hollis of Manchester Twp. and nephews, Thomas, Michael and Stephen Hollis. Cathy was a beautician and also worked for DCI in Manasquan. She cared lovingly for her children, grandchildren and God-children, Stephen and Noreen Gallo, who thought of Cathy as their second Mother. Cathy was an accomplished quilter and won several awards. She belonged to St. Peter's Quilt group, St. Mary's Quilters both in Point Pleasant Beach, and the Beach Plum Quilters of Toms River. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Pt. Pleasant Beach and served as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound and those in senior residences. She was also a member of "The Club" along with Nena Ottmer, Beau Carney, Janet Krusman and Joan Deconde. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.., Monday, May 14 at the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 15, Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Peter R.C. Church, followed by interment at Saint Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood. She will be greatly missed by all those whom her life has touched. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in her name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, P.O.
