Obituary of Charles B. Grace, Sr.

Dr. Charles B. Grace, Sr., 77, of Manchester, passed away suddenly at his home, on Friday, June 29, 2012. Charles was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Joseph & Irene Grace. He attended Columbia University and graduated from Seton Hall Dental School. He played semi-pro baseball, while he obtained his medical degree in dentistry. After obtaining his degree, Charles joined the United States Air Force, where he served in the Vietnam war and was discharged as a Captain. Charles met his wife, Carol, and moved from Ohio to Point Pleasant, where he opened his dental practice. He was one of the first to open a practice in the area in 1962. During his free time, Charles loved to hunt and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. He also loved to tell his stories and jokes to everyone he met. He was predeceased by his wife, of fifty-one years, Carol in August, 2011. Surviving are three sons, Charles and his wife Tara of Point Pleasant, Jon and his wife Kimberly of CA, and Dr. Perry and Lisa of Toms River; eight grandchildren, Shanna, Justin, Connor, Desiree, Carli, Zachary, Alexandra, and Mackenzie; and many dear friends. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., Thursday, July 5 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, where at 12:30 p.m. a service will be held. Interment will follow at Saint Catharine Cemetery, Sea Girt. In lieu flowers, donations made in his memory to the Popcorn Park Zoo would be appreciated.
