Obituary of Lawrence Bresnahan
Lawrence Bresnahan, 81, of Point Pleasant, passed away, Wednesday, July 29, 2015.
Born in East Saint Louis, MO, to the late Michael and Bertha (Lancaster) Bresnahan, he lived in Clifton, Woodbridge, VA, Brielle, and Sea Girt, residing in Point Pleasant for the past five years.
Mr. Bresnahan attended the University of North Dakota on a football scholarship and then entered the United States Army. During his Army service, he was stationed in Germany where he listened to radio transmissions and later at Fort Dix serving as a recruiter.
He retired from Union Labor Life Insurance Company, New York, where he worked as manager of the field services group.
Larry showed his compassion in many ways during his everyday life. He was a very active member of the Old Guard of Greater Point Pleasant and had volunteered his time for many organizations, including Meals on Wheels and transporting cancer patients for treatment.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret and six siblings.
Surviving are his second wife, Anne Dunkle Bresnahan; his daughters, Colleen Creamer of Framingham, MA and Kathleen Mills and her husband Kyle of Richmond, VA, and his son, Daniel Bresnahan and his wife Mary of Oakland. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Warren, Terrence, Sean, and Ryan; brother, Michael; three step children, Jill Nydam and her husband Jack, Deborah Kraft and her husband Bill, and John Dunkle; three step-grandchildren, Jake, Mickey, Kelsey; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday, July 31 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10 a.m., Saturday, August 1 a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Denis, Manasquan. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, will be private.
