Obituary of Rudolf O. Arndt
Rudolf Otto Arndt, 88, of Point Pleasant, passed away, Monday, July 30, 2018.
Born in New Brunswick to the late Rudolf A. and Kathe (Boysen) Arndt, he lived there and in Jamesburg and since 1953 in Point Pleasant.
Mr. Arndt worked as an educator and retired from Toms River South High School as Director of Guidance in 1992. After that he was an admissions advisor at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft. He served several terms as a board member of the Mon-Oc Federal Credit Union (now First Financial).
Mr. Arndt was a United States Army, Korean War era veteran and graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick. He was a member of the Toms River Kiwanis Club in the 1960’s. He loved his time umpiring Little League in Point Pleasant from 1966-69. He was a member of Harvey Memorial United Methodist Church, Point Pleasant.
An avid golfer, Mr. Arndt also taught wine appreciation classes and enjoyed traveling to vineyards in California. He will be fondly remembered as a beloved husband, dad, gramps, friend, and mentor.
He was predeceased by his first wife, June Waller Arndt in 1990.
Surviving are his second wife, Carla Meyer Arndt; his three children, Karen Fisher and husband Dennis of Newtown, PA, J. Christopher Arndt and wife Andrea of Harrisonburg, VA, and Kathleen Arndt of Staunton, VA. Also surviving are his stepson, Carl Vasti and wife Michele of Marlboro; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Kristen and husband Todd, Emily, Ryan, Carl, Thomas, Olivia, and Ruby; and one great-granddaughter, Claire.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m., Thursday, August 2 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 3 a service will be held at Harvey Memorial United Methodist Church, 1120 Arnold Ave., Point Pleasant, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
