Amelia Wise

Obituary of Amelia P. Wise

Amelia P. Wise (née Griffin), 91. Born to Michael and Margaret Griffin in Cross Beg, County Clare, Ireland, Amelia emigrated to America after graduation to continue her education and pursue a career. She became a beautician and the co-proprietor of A&A Beauty Salon on Valley Road in Orange, NJ. She lived in Parsippany for thirty-five years before moving to Point Pleasant six years ago. After surviving a bout with Covid-19 earlier this year, Amelia passed away on Friday, May 8th, ending a long and valiant journey with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Sister Amelia was a long-time, devoted, and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in both the Morristown 1st Ward and Toms River Ward. She composed a prayer she would recite for members, friends, family, and loved ones who had returned to Heavenly Father. Today, we recite that prayer for her.

God saw you getting tired,

and recovery was not meant to be.

So, He put His arms around you,

and whispered, “Please come home with Me.”

It grieved us all to lose you,

but you did not go alone.

A part of us went with you

the day God called you home.

Surviving are her beloved husband of forty-one years, Bernard "Bill" Wise; her brother, Martin Griffin of Ireland; three step-sons, Jack Wise of Smyrna Beach, FL, Bernard Wise, Jr. of Surfside Beach, SC, and Danny Wise of Point Pleasant; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen greatgrandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Amelia’s Gravesite Dedication and Interment took place at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, and was held privately.
