I wanted to share a memory on behalf of one of my children. He wanted to share this memory yesterday at the service, but didn't think he could get through it. One of Poppy's greatest joys as a grandfather was walking his grandchildren to and from the rec center for preschool. This grandchild shared this sweet memory with all of us just after Pop had passed. On his very first day of preschool, Poppy walked him over to the rec center. He remembered that he didn't want to go in and began to cry. Crying turned to sobbing and no matter what his teachers did to try to convince him to go in, he wouldn't go. I asked him, "What did Poppy say?" My son said "He didn't say anything." I asked my son "Well, what did Poppy do?" He said, "He just held me."

What a great gentleman! One of the first persons we began to know moving into Point Pleasant 47 years ago. Gentle in thought, word, and deed. Joined our effort to establish the Foundation for Excellence in Education, and the Hall Of Fame. He inspired others to do good and be an honest businessman and individual. We'll always smile when thinking of him now and forever! Peace be with him and the entire family!

So sorry to learn of Dave’s passing. Enjoyed many evenings of the neighborhood baseball games, perch fishing on the creek and hanging at Dave’s Mobile. Later, serving on the Foundation for Excellence in Education brought us full circle in life knowing Dave and Joan and certainly all the kids. Our condolences to you all, and please know I only have the best memories of “Big Dave” in the neighborhood!!
Fondly,
Dennis Sears

My family few up around the corner from the Baumeister family. Dave was my father's best man when my parents were married. He was a good friend to my parents and a wonderful family man. Dave was always so friendly and always had a smile. He would light up every time he greeted someone. My deepest sympathy goes out to his entire family.

Dave and family,
So sorry for your loss. You dad's gas station was such a part of our lives. Growing up we always saw yor Dad's smiling face when my parents got gas there. He was so kind and never too busy for a short, friendly chat. He helped us fill our bike tires and later our own car tires, always asking after the family. You were blessed to have him with you so long and I am sure you will miss him much. I hope it will comfort you to know how loved he was in the community. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all. Dear Cathy and family,
Please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your dad. I didn't realize he owned the Mobile Station in Point! I remember him and wish my dad was still here, as they always talked up a storm with each other when we got gas there. I am sure he had a huge greeting :) Warm hugs to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. What a wonderful legacy he has left behind in his children and grandchildren. God Bless Dan and Mary DeSoucey
