Obituary of Peter W. Borwegen

Peter W. Borwegen, 92, of Point Pleasant passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 surrounded by his family.

 

Born in New Brunswick to the late Peter H. and Lucy Borwegen, he lived in Edison before moving to Point Pleasant in 1985.

 

Pete was a United States Navy, World War II Veteran (USS Blackfin SS 322), Life Member of the U.S. Submarine Veterans, Life Member U.S. SubVets NJ South (Holland Club), Life Member Elks Point Pleasant No. 1698 and he was a member of the American Legion and a Freemason of the Palestine Lodge No. 111, New Brunswick.

 

Pete served twenty-eight years with the Edison Fire Department and retired as Captain.  He was also a member of the NJ State Exempt Firemen’s Association.

 

Pete was a “Jack of All Trades” and enjoyed tinkering while helping others and loved to go fishing.

 

He was predeceased by his first wife, Earla Jean Borwegen; his son, Peter “Butch” Borwegen; and other beloved family, Dominick “Butch” Floridia, Stu Rosenfeld, and Timothy O’Neill.

 

Surviving is his wife of thirty-six years, Dorothy Borwegen; his daughter, Patricia Rosenfeld; step daughters, Paula O’Neill and Karen Wardzinski and her husband, Frank.  Also surviving is his sister, Helene Vetrecin; eight grandchildren, Jacey, Laina, David, Jason, Lauren, Matthew, Sarah, and Olivia; ten great-grandchildren; his beloved nephew, Roger West; and several other nieces and nephews.

 

A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, October 14th at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Peter’s Church, 406 Forman Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach followed by entombment at Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. (Facial coverings are required and adherence to social distancing will be in effect.)
