Obituary of Joseph P. Martin

Joseph Peter Martin, 90, of Point Pleasant Beach, was born on September 29, 1930 in East Rutherford, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. 

He worked for forty years in New York City with the United Heat and Frost Insulators, Local 12, and served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer.  Mr. Martin was a past member of the Dumont BPOE 2593 Elks Lodge and was an avid softball player and played until his early 70’s. He was also noted for the Men’s Shamrock Softball Team from Dumont.

He was the beloved husband, for sixty-three years, of Christine; beloved father of Joseph and his wife, Cecelia, David, and Patricia and her husband, Nicolas Ascolese.  Also, he was beloved grandfather to Kerri Ann Gorga, Kristi Ann Halpin, Bryan Martin, Rebecca Martin, and Joey Martin; and beloved great grandfather of Kailyn and Blake Gorga.

A memorial visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, December 19 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. (Facial coverings are required and adherence to social distancing will be in effect.)
