Dolores Verbout

Obituary of Dolores Verbout

Dolores Verbout (DeLuca), 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 28, 2021.

Dolores was born in Jersey City in 1944 to the late Anna and Patrick DeLuca.  She was predeceased by her brother, John DeLuca and sister, MaryAnn Tighe whom she loved dearly.  She was a graduate of Saint Dominic Academy in Jersey City.  During that time, she met and then married her husband Peter Verbout of almost fifty-five years on June 4, 1967.  They lived in Jersey City together until they moved to Wood- Ridge where they resided and raised their family for almost forty years. Dolores stayed home to raise her family and then worked as an administrative assistant for several companies.  Upon retirement, Dolores and Peter moved to Brick in 2009 to be closer to their grandchildren.

Known to many as Dee and DD, Dolores’s whole world was her family.  She loved reading all the time, loved movies, shopping, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.  Family was most important to her as she carried on many family traditions that she shared and passed on to her children and grandchildren.

She will be lovingly missed by her husband, Peter; her son, Peter Verbout; and stepson, Greg Habash; her daughter, Melissa Danko and her husband, Michael and their two children; her cherished grandchildren, Sarina and Cole.  She was a loving aunt to her nieces, Debbie, Joanne, Linda, and Janet and her nephew, Larry.

Services will be private.  A celebration of her life will be held at a later time.

If desired, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in her memory at www.michaeljfox.org/donate
