


Obituary of Jean C. Findlay
Jean C. Findlay, 87, passed away peacefully into eternal life on Tuesday, January 25th, at Harrogate Senior Living Facility in Lakewood. She was the widow of William Findlay. They shared fifty-three years of marriage together, beginning their relationship as high school sweethearts at North Arlington High School.
Born in Newark, she was the daughter of Charles W. and Jean Simmons. She was also predeceased by her sister, Mary N. O’Connor. She received her B.A. and M.A. in English Literature from Montclair State College. She held various position throughout her career; high school english teacher, retail sales management, and retired as an agent for the I.R.S.
Jean belonged to the Point Presbyterian Church, and she was actively involved with her husband in the civil rights movement of the early 1960’s. She enjoyed several hobbies including painting, reading, writing and teaching poetry classes, and traveling. She loved to entertain and nothing was more important to her than her family and friends.
Jean is survived by her two sons, William Findlay and his wife Susan of Wall, Andrew and his wife Patricia of Point Pleasant Beach, and a daughter Eileen Curcio and her husband Anthony of Long Valley. She leaves behind five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church, 701 Foreman Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church.
