Obituary of W. Robert Bratton

 

W. Robert Bratton, 90, of Point Pleasant Beach, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022.

 

Born and raised in Jersey City to the late William and Ellen Bratton, he has lived in Point Pleasant Beach since 1961.

 

Mr. Bratton was a graduate of both Saint Peter’s Prep and Seton Hall University, and was a United States Navy, Korean War veteran, serving in the submarine service.

 

After a career in the insurance industry, he retired in 1995.  He served on the Point Pleasant Beach Council, and was a Life Member of Point Pleasant Beach Fire Company #2. 

 

His true passion was football:  he was often disappointed by the NY Giants, and was a well-respected high school football referee (NJFOA) well into his 80’s.    Post-game often found him with his crew at the Riv.  Off season found him playing softball, at garage and estate sales, or reading a good book.

 

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, of over sixty-two years, Adrienne (nee Cerra); brothers, Jack, Jay, and William Bratton; and sisters, Gertrude Finegan, Marie Osborne, and Dolores Deckenbach.

 

Surviving are his daughters, Maureen Bratton of New York, NY and Deirdre Tachine and her husband, John of Belford; son, Timothy Bratton of Point Pleasant Beach; and two grandchildren, Andrew and Caroline Tachine, and many nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., Thursday, March 17 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road.  At Noon, Friday, March 18 a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Saint Peter R.C. Church, 406 Forman Ave. (corner of Saint Louis Ave.) Point Pleasant Beach.
