Obituary of Mildred Wardell

Mildred “Milly” Wardell (nee Kelly),  86, of Point Pleasant, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

Born in Point Pleasant to the late Bartley and Evelyn Kelly, she was a lifelong resident and graduate of Point Pleasant Beach High School.

Milly worked as an executive secretary at Electronic Associates, Inc. West Long Branch, and also at Ocean County Bank, Point Pleasant Beach.

She was a devoted to her family, loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and adored cats and pugs. Milly had a talent for creating many beautiful cross stitch pieces that are displayed in her and John’s home. She had a lifetime passion for embroidery, books- especially mysteries, travel, and chocolate. She and John took many cruises especially to the Caribbean. They also enjoyed going to the Cayman Islands where they had a timeshare for several years. Milly never missed seeing a concert, art show, sporting event, graduation, birthday, or wedding for one of her grandchildren. For many years, she knitted hats to give away to those who needed a hat. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to the parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Dennis and sister, Susan.

Milly is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-six years, V. John Wardell, Sr.; son, Vincent J. Wardell, Jr. and his wife, Kari; and daughter, Julie Ottomano and her husband, Bruce.  She is also survived by her brother, Douglas Kelly; sister, Nora Kelly; grandchildren, Jacob Carroll and his wife, Brandy, Colleen Vinomano and her wife, Julie, Trevor Wardell, Sara Ottomano and her husband, Andrew Cooke, and Ryan Ottomano; great-grandchildren, Harlyn and Preslie; and her feline companion, Annie.

Visitation will be from 2 – 4 p.m., Saturday, March 25 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road.
