Obituary of David K. Norkus
David Keith Norkus, 78, formerly of Point Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.
Born in Long Branch, NJ to the late Jean and Edward Norkus, he lived in Freehold throughout his childhood.
David spent several years in the US Navy Reserve prior to partnering with his brothers and father in the family owed business, Garden State Grocers, located in Farmingdale, NJ. After a short-lived break from his Supermarket career David became an award-winning Regional Manager for a Long-Term Life Insurance company.
David thoroughly enjoyed time with his family, traveling, boating, fishing, and singing in the church choir. His passion for yardwork and a beautifully manicured lawn brought him joy. David’s happy place was a rocker with a water view and being extra silly with his grandchildren close by. You could always count on David for a funny story, a good belly-laugh or entertaining everyone with a spontaneous song.
David is survived by his loving wife, Gail Norkus and their three children, Brian, Donna, and Scott along with his nine grandchildren Benjamin, Matthew and his wife, Megan, Julia, Tyler, Alyssa, Abigail, Brenna, Colin, and Amanda. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert, Diane, Richard, and Marjorie.
Memorial visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m., Thursday, May 11 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 12 a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Saint Peter Church, 406 Forman Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in David’s memory to Mary’s Place by the Sea, marysplacebythesea.org.
