Obituary of Arthur John Chilenski

In Loving Memory of Arthur John Chilenski

January 8, 1936 - September 4, 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Arthur John Chilenski. He departed this world on September 4, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Born and raised in Bloomfield, NJ, Art's roots ran deep in the house his parents, Sophie and Clement Chilenski, lovingly made their own. He grew up alongside his sister, Joan Kysilewskyj, and two brothers, Robert (Josephine) and Henry (Karlyn). Art is predeceased by his dear sister Joan, brother-in-law Roman Kysilewskyj, and his parents Sophie & Clement Chilenski.

On November 5, 1960, Art embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship with his cherished wife, Elin Peloubet Chilenski. Their union, spanning an incredible 61 years, was a testament to the enduring power of devotion and partnership. Together, they nurtured three remarkable daughters, Nina Longstreet (Don), Jennifer Lee (Scott), and Louise Stoner (Ben).

Art's pride and joy extended to his eight adored grandchildren: Samantha Longstreet Celone, Addison Lee, Kyle Longstreet, Aubrey Stoner, Joshua Longstreet, Aidan Stoner, Isabelle Lee, and Charlotte Lee. He reveled in their accomplishments and cherished every moment spent together, sharing stories, laughing and teaching them how to play cards.

For over two decades, Art dedicated himself to the Bloomfield, NJ Fire Department, standing steadfast alongside his brothers in the department. The camaraderie and shared experiences forged unbreakable bonds, and Art's eyes would light up as he recounted tales of those good times with his fellow firefighters.

Art had a passion for cars and building homes and was a man who could fix anything. He truly loved Florida and its warm weather and would visit the state often with his wife Elin. One of his favorite pastimes was going to yard sales with his daughters and collecting clocks along the way.

A man who lived life on his own terms, Art was a beacon of strength, love, and authenticity. His memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of his family and close friends.

A celebration of Art's life will be held on Sunday, September 24th, to honor the man who touched so many. Friends and family are invited to join in remembrance, sharing stories and finding solace in the legacy of a truly remarkable soul.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Art's name to the NJ Firemen’s Association, 1711 Route 34, Wall Township, NJ 07727-3934.

May Arthur John Chilenski find eternal peace, knowing that he was cherished, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
