Obituary of Lillian Shaughnessy

Lillian Jean Shaughnessy, a life-long resident of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 4th, surrounded by the family she loved. Born in 1932 to George and Letty Johnson, she was one of five siblings. Lillian is predeceased by her brothers, Harry, Bruce, and George, and a sister, Betty. She is survived by her husband, Paul Shaughnessy, three children and their spouses, Linda Vacchiano and her husband, Ted, of Farmingdale; Katie LaMonaca and her husband, Peter, of Williamstown; as well as Shawn Shaughnessy and his wife, Quiavonna, of Point Pleasant. Lillian will be dearly missed by five wonderful grandchildren, Danielle Vacchiano and her fianc, Manny Sanchez; Jessica and Paul Vacchiano; as well as Peter Jr. and Daniel LaMonaca. Lillian was a past member of the St. Peter's School PTA and Rosary Altar Society. She met her husband, Paul, while working at the Candy Kitchen in downtown Point Pleasant with his sister. Paul and Lillian celebrated 60 years of marriage last fall and set the greatest example of unconditional love that a family could ever imagine. They built two houses themselves, raised a family, and spent every day caring for each other. Viewings will be held at Pable Evertz Funeral Home, 901 Beaver Dam Road in Point Pleasant from 2-4 & 7-9 on Tuesday, August 7th. A funeral Mass will take place Wednesday, August 8th at 11 am at Saint Peter's Church in Point Pleasant Beach, followed by entombment at Saint Catharine Cemetery Mausoleum, Sea Girt.
