Obituary of Donald E. Koch
Donald E. Koch, 82, of Brick, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at his home.
Born in Jersey City, to the late Fred J. and Leona L. (Coakley) Koch, he was raised in Point Pleasant Beach and has lived in Brick for the past fifty years.
After graduating from Point Pleasant Beach High School in 1948 he entered the United States Navy and served on the aircraft carrier, USS Valley Forge during the Korean War.
Mr. Koch and his wife were the co-owners of the Off Shore Restaurant, Point Pleasant Beach, for forty years.
He was an avid model railroad enthusiast and also operated the Jenkinson's Beach Train. Other favorite pastimes were golfing and fishing. He was a Philadelphia sports teams fan and attended the Philadelphia Phillies "Dream Team" five times.
Mr. Koch was a member of the B.P.O. Elks, Point Pleasant Lodge, No. 1698, and served as Exalted Ruler from 1978-79. He also was a member of the Manasquan River Golf Club.
Surviving are his beloved wife, of nearly sixty-two years, Elizabeth Jane DiTullio Koch; his daughter, Deborah White and her husband Michael of Bernville, PA; two sons, David E. Koch and his wife Mary of Kennesaw, GA; and Dale Koch and his wife Sylvia of Brick; his brother, James F. Koch; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Adam, Meredith, Kristin, Travis, and Derek; and his great-grandson, Robby.
Visitation will be from 2 - 6 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 19 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road.
At 10:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 20, Military honors, followed by interment will take place at the BG Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
