Obituary of Barbara I. MacArthur

Barbara I. MacArthur (nee Baker), 77, of Brick, passed away, Friday, October 26, 2012. Born in Cadosia, NY to the late Paul & Mary Baker, she lived in Kearny until moving to Brick in 1961. Mrs. MacArthur graduated from Ocean County College, Trenton State College, and attended Farleigh Dickinson University. As a registered nurse, she worked at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood, for seventeen years prior to her retirement. She set-up and was executive director of KARE-MED and in Florida was an adjunct nursing instructor for Palm Beach Junior College. She was a charter member of Sigma Theta Tau, Theta Sigma, International Nursing Society at Glassboro College. She was past chairperson of the Breton Woods Evening Membership Department; and was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, West Palm Beach, FL; Central United Methodist Church, Point Pleasant Beach; and O.E.S., Faith Chapter, Point Pleasant Beach. She was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Donna Lynn Danik and by her son-in-law, Jeff A. Danik. Surviving are her beloved husband, of fifty-five years, Russell R. MacArthur; son, Russell P. MacArthur and his wife Cathy of Roebling; and daughter, Barbara M. MacArthur of Brick. Also surviving are her sister, Paula Voorman of Midland Park; and six grandchildren, Conor Conklin, Jeffrey Danik, and Russell, Douglass, Daniel, and Joseph MacArthur Visitation will be from 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 9 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 8 p.m. a service will be held. As an expression of sympathy donations made in her memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research ( www.michaeljfox.org ) would be appreciated.
