Obituary of Robert H. Evertz

Robert H. Evertz, 68, of Point Pleasant, passed away suddenly, Monday, March 25, 2013.

Born in Fort Wayne, IN, he was raised in Lakewood, and has lived in Point Pleasant for over forty years.

Bob began his career in funeral service as an apprentice with the former W. David DeRoche Funeral Home, Lakewood, and later worked for different funeral homes in Ocean and Monmouth Counties.  He was the owner and manager of the Pable Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, which he co-founded in 1985.

He was a graduate of Lakewood High School, Thomas Edison College, Trenton, and the American Academy/McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, New York.  Bob was a long-time member and Paul Harris Fellow of the Point Pleasant Borough Club of Rotary International; the National, New Jersey State, and Monmouth and Ocean Funeral Directors Associations; and Saint Paul's United Methodist Church, Bay Head.

He liked NASCAR, used and classic cars, cooking, his cigars, and the family dog, Maggie.

He was predeceased by his father, Carle B. Evertz.

Surviving are his wife of, forty-three years, Phyllis Johansen Evertz; his son, Robert A. Evertz and his fiance Devon; and his daughter, Amy Robinson and her husband Matthew, all of Point Pleasant. He is also survived by his mother, Doris Ziegler Evertz of Toms River; his sister, Lois Sandoval and her husband Jorge of Forked River; and his grandson, Callen Robinson.

Visitation will be from 2 - 4 p.m. &; 7 - 9 p.m., Thursday, March 28 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 29 a service will be held at the funeral home and followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
