Obituary of Stephen L. Schwab

Stephen L. Schwab, 93, of Point Pleasant, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 4, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 21, 1921 in Czechoslovakia, he came to this country with his parents and was raised in Bridgeport, CT and has lived in Point Pleasant for most of his life. He entered the United States Army and served in the US Army Signal Corps. While stationed in Sea Girt, he met his wife, of sixty-eight years, at the Manasquan USO. Steve owned and operated Steve's Meat Market, Point Pleasant, and later worked at the Fort Monmouth Commissary, as a butcher, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Wall/Spring Lake Lodge, No. 73, F. & A.M.; Fort Monmouth Chapter, No. 155, National Sojourners; and was a charter member of the B.P.O. Elks, Lodge No. 1698, Point Pleasant Beach. Steve loved to travel, especially Europe, and also motor home vacations all over the lower US, Nova Scotia, and Alaska. Surviving are his beloved wife, Winifred "Winnie" Schwab; two sons, Glenn and his wife Ann of Puerto Rico and Mark and his wife Cathy of Naples, FL; and one daughter, Wanda Schrader and her husband Robert of Point Pleasant. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Matthew, Meredith, Brian, Lara, and Abby; and three great-grandchildren, Jay, Chase, and Samira. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 8 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 9, a service will be held at the funeral home and followed by interment at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan.
