i have too many memories to express. i loved her so much. she was my mama hauck. i have had 10 amazing years living with Karen. she was welcoming, super funny, and compassionate. she is in a better place and we all know that. unfortunately it doesn't make it any easier. the only regrets that i have is that steve and i haven't gotten married or had kids to meet her. she will be missed and i know many tears are still to come. thank you to everyone that has expressed their sympathies.

I FIRST MET KAREN IN SYRACUSE, NY. SHE WAS SUCH A GOOD PERSON AND HELPED OTHERS IN ANY WAY SHE COULD. I ALWAYS REMEMBER SOME OF THE GOOD TIMES WE HAD THERE. I RAN INTO HER AGAIN IN GERMANY. I HAD DINNER WITH HER AND FRANK A COUPLE OF TIMES. I HAVE TALKED TO HER SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS, AND WE ALWAYS SHARED ALOT OF OUR MEMORIES. I WAS PLEASED WHEN SHE FINALLY GOT AN EMAIL ADDRESS. WE EMAILED EACH OTHER AND AGAIN TALKED OF TRYING TO GET BACK TO SEEING EACH OTHER AND OUR OTHER FRIENDS FROM SYSRACUSE. BEING IN THE MILITARY YOU MEET SO MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE, BUT SOME YOU FORGET EASILY AND OTHERS LIKE KAREN YOU NEVER FORGET. SHE IS IN A BETTER PLACE, AND GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF HER NOW.

I SAT WITH KAREN FOR ONE YEAR AT SWIM LESSONS ON WEDNSDAYS WHILE CHRISTOPHER AND AVERY LEARNED TO SWIM. AS GRAND MOTHERS WE WERE NERVOUS, PROUD AND WOULD CHEER EACH GRANDCHILD ON. WE HAD A LOT OF LAUGHS, ALMOST CRIED WHEN WE THOUGHT THE LESSON WAS A LITTLE HARD, CLAPPED WHEN THEY JUMPED IN. I ENJOYED THAT YEAR WATCHING AVERY AND SEEING CHRISTOPHER AND MEETING A WONDERFUL, WARM HARDED, FRIENDLY AND LOVELY PERSON THAT KAREN WAS. THANKS FOR THE GREAT YEAR, MARSHA

the sadnesses multiply with the memories ;humans just don't come any better or more giving ;the laughter on this planet has dulled ;i truly weep that she was so cheated of future ; our little office had desk upon desk and each of us was more or less audible to those around...it was one of those rare occasions when all of us seemed to be complaining and whining about unsatisfied "patients"; Karen piped up with"yea...what do they think this is?...some kind of service organization?" all laughed, but more importantly, we all got the message...and got back to working yet harder to satisfy even the most "unreasonable" complaints;there are countless examples of Karen simply being Karen wherein she inspired each of us to be a better person;your loss is truly horrific;you have my deepest sympathy;i will never forget her, her devotion to helping others, and her fun, funnier and funniest selves. What a privilege to have shared big hunks of her life.
sincerely,ann verb
