Obituary of Velma B. McKeown

Velma Brooks England McKeown, 87, of Brick, passed away, Saturday, July 11, 2009 at her home. Born in Flushing, NY, to the late Prim William and Anna England, she had lived in Perth Amboy and has resided in Brick since 1980. Mrs. McKeown worked as a benefits coordinator at Hahne & Company Store, Newark. Later she was employed by the Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant, as an activities assistant until her retirement. A graduate of Douglas College, she was an avid reader, and member of Saint Paul's United Methodist Church, Brick. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John W. McKeown and by her brother, Robert England. Surviving are her daughter, Susan Meigs and her husband Bruce of Brick; two grandchildren, Jill Bates and her husband Christopher and John Cuthbertson and his wife Sarah; and six great grandchildren, Faith, Brooke, Elizabeth, Leah, Abigail, and Naomi. Friends may visit with from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, at the Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, followed by an 11:15 a.m., graveside service at Alpine Cemetery 703 Amboy Avenue, Perth Amboy.
