Obituary of Eleanor Palumbo

Eleanor Alexander Palumbo, 90, of Brick, peacefully passed away, Sunday, July 19, 2009 at her home. Born on September 15, 1918 in Asbury Park, to the late Samuel & Frances Alexander, she spent the majority of her youth living there. She and her husband Dominick spent the greater part of their lives residing in Point Pleasant. "Elly" encouraged her husband's business endeavors at Palumbo's Appliance Center and raised a supporting and loving family. She spent her latter years living in Brick, continuing to entertain her children and grandchildren, as the matriarch of the Palumbo family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, of sixty-eight years, Dominick. Eleanor is survived by her sons, Donald and wife Louise of Brick, Patrick and wife Maria of Point Pleasant, and Samuel and wife Joanne of Point Pleasant Beach; her daughter, Carol Northrop and husband Toby of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; her grandsons, Dominick and wife Kim of Point Pleasant, Christopher of Miami, FL, Michael of Charleston, SC, Samuel and wife Rene of Barnegat, John of Point Pleasant Beach and fiance Ahra Ko; and her great-grandchildren, Katie Murphy and Paige Palumbo both of Point Pleasant. Friends may visit from 2 - 5 p.m., Wednesday, July 22 at the Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. At 9 a.m., Thursday, a Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Peter's Church, Point Pleasant Beach. Cremation will be held privately. As an expression of sympathy, contributions made in her memory to Saint Peter's Church, 406 Forman Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742, are suggested.
