Stanley Karr

Obituary of Stanley Karr

Stanley A. Karr, of Brick, died suddenly at home on Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Born in Perth Amboy, Stan excelled in sports while in Perth Amboy High School (baseball, football, and track) and was granted a full four-year track scholarship and a B.S. Degree from Villanova University. There, he, and his teammates, broke the World Mile Relay record. His family and friends took pride in following his college sports career on television. After college, Stan married his high school sweetheart, Louise, and moved to Brick where he and Louise raised their daughter Beth. Stan was Sales Manager and Vice President of Torwico Electronics, Lakewood, NJ, until his retirement. His passion was coaching softball and basketball for more than 20 years with Brick Recreation (BMAC). He was a member of St. Dominic's R.C. Church, Brick. Stan was an avid fan of the NY Giants, Yankees, and Rangers, and often cheered his teams in stadiums and arenas with Louise and his daughters. Don't call him when one of his favorites was on air! He was looking forward to being at the new Giants Stadium on November 28 with the family. Since his retirement, Stan also enjoyed the Borgata Suites in Atlantic City, where he and Louise relaxed and had fun. Stan took pride in his home, his cooking and barbecuing skills, and his family pool parties. He loved caring for his pets, and tending to the neighbors' pets, as well. A friend to all, Stan will be remembered most for his easy sense of humor. His extended family and many friends will always remember him as the most fun and special person in their lives. Stan was predeceased by his parents, Anne and Stan; his in-laws, Elizabeth and Charles Gallop; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Gallop and Walter Krebs. He is survived by his beloved wife, Louise; his devoted daughters, Beth, and Mary Lange, Jackson; his best friends and in-laws, Robert and Claire Savino, West Long Branch; his sister-in-law, Barbara Krebs, Brick; his brother-in-law, Richard Gallop, Florida; and many loving nieces and nephews. Friends may visit from 9 - 11 a.m., Saturday, November 13 at the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 11 a.m. a service will be held. As per his wishes, cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, Stanley would have been honored to have a donation made to the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean County in his memory.
